About Me

Well the boring stuff you probably already know. I am originally from the southwest of England in a county called Cornwall. I have two siblings, a brother Stephen and sister Rachel. I joined the British army straight from school and served for four years including a tour of Bosnia under the IFOR contingency. I also completed a two month winter MEDMAN exercise in Canada. This is where I met my now wife Shauna. After some back and forth I decided to live in Canada permanently. I have lived in Edmonton, Alberta for eight years and I have one son, Nicholas who is seven years old. Shauna is also expecting another child due around January.

Well that's the boring stuff out of the way, so what else you want to know? My interests? Like every in my life, it goes through cycles. I get bored quickly. Right now I have come back to something I have always been interested in pursuing which is video editing. Back to when my cousin Ian and myself both bought our video cameras and made spoof commercials for the "Handy Holdall" which was just basically a strap and documentaries on Cornwall and a dodgy car salesman who looked a lot like my brother, Stephen. Nowadays I have upgraded myself a little and have purchased Final Cut Pro for the Mac. It is a professional digital video editing suite which is even used by hollywood film editors. I record my movies (term used loosely) on my Sony HD SR12 video camera. My old one being used as a webcam for the home. The cassette loading bay somehow got bent out of shape and will not hold a cassette anymore, it just keeps ejecting it.

I also like mountain biking having recently bought a new bike. It's a Gary Fisher design called a Wahoo. My Australian friend Pete and I go riding together around the Edmonton trails although we could get out more often but there never seems to be enough time. We still have a plan to compete in the '24hrs of Adrenaline' bike race in Canmore, Alberta. The race is as the name suggests a 24 hr bike event starting at 12:00pm Saturday and finishing at 12:00pm Sunday. Teams can be solo or a team of four. The average lap time is around one hour thirty minutes, which means each team mate should complete four laps, although the minimum a racer has to complete is just one leaving the slack to be picked up by the others. I was tracking the sign up for the event online and was amazed that it was all sold out before I even knew it. So now thats on hold for next year.

Shauna and Nicholas

Well Shauna is my wife and Nicholas is my son. I will update more here when I get around to it. :)
